Either because you want to share some photos or videos, or because you have something on your computer and you need to have it on your phone. There are many reasons to connect a Xiaomi to a PC. Mainly because you have a mobile or tablet of that brand.
But how do you connect a Xiaomi to a PC? Is it easy? Are there different ways? Don't worry, below we'll tell you everything you need to know.
How to connect a Xiaomi to a PC

The first thing we are going to do is give you the keys so that you can connect your mobile or tablet to a computer. We already told you that it is easy to do, and there is not much mystery, although sometimes you may run into some problems.
Technically, there are only two ways to connect a Xiaomi to a PC : the most well-known way, which is by cable, and the less well-known way, wirelessly.
Connect Xiaomi to PC with cable

We are going to start with the best known form and normally the most used. For this you will need the cable you use to charge your mobile in a plug. Being by USB, you can connect it without problem to the computer.
Now, normally, when you do this, the phone will just start charging, but you won't actually see what's inside on the screen with the file explorer.
What is done then? All mobiles let you work with it even when it is connected to the PC, and you can download the tab in which you have notifications. You will see one that is related to that USB and if you click on it, it will give you several options.
One of them is "File Transfer". If you click on that, you'll be able to see everything on that phone and transfer it to your PC to create a copy (or vice versa, to transfer things from your computer to it).
Other times you won't have to do anything. For example, with a Xiaomi Mi 6, as soon as you connect the USB to the computer, a tab will appear that says "Use USB for" and you can choose whether you don't want to transfer data (in which case it will only charge the phone), transfer files (as we mentioned); and transfer photos (PTP).
You must make sure that the mobile or tablet is turned on before connecting the cable, otherwise it will not work for you.
From that moment on you can use it and in principle you shouldn't have any connection problems, unless the cable is damaged and, when touched or moved, it can disconnect.
We recommend that, as far as possible, you use the original cable (if you have it and it is in good condition) because that will make the connection faster and more secure. If you use a different cable, it will go a little slower when passing files between one and the other (something similar to when you load with the original cable, which makes it faster than with another cable that is not from the brand).
Connect Xiaomi to PC without cable

This is the most unknown method, but the truth is that those who have tried it say that it is much faster, although it must be taken into account that it can be very buggy.
In addition, to do this you need to have an extra app installed , which usually comes pre-installed on your phone, but if not, we're talking about ShareMe . This app (and method) is ideal for transferring large photos and videos (whether for one person or many).
What do you have to do to connect it properly?
- The first thing you need is to open the ShareMe application on your mobile. This will give you the option to Connect to computer, which is just what you want to do.
- Now, in order for it to do so, you need to open a browser on your computer and enter the IP address that the mobile will have provided you when you want to connect.
- If you put it correctly, and there is no problem, you should be able to access the Xiaomi folders and files without having to have the mobile connected to your computer.
What if you don't like ShareMe?
Sometimes ShareMe can give you problems, or not be as fast as you might expect. Other times, incompatibilities or mobile issues might make it a less advisable option. But the truth is, there are other ways.
Instead of ShareMe, you can use others like:
Telegram
As you know, Telegram can be connected from the app, but also from a web browser (via Telegram Web). If you open it in both places, you just need to go to a conversation (it can be your own) on your mobile device and tap "send file" to transfer the file you want to that user on the computer.
In this way, it is received on the computer and all you have to do is download it.
It is similar to connecting a Xiaomi to a PC but wirelessly and using another system.
If we've already talked about Telegram, you should know that the same thing happens with WhatsApp. We can also send that information this way.
Google Drive
Finally, another of the programs that you can use instead of ShareMe is Google Drive.
You'll usually find this app on your phone, but if you don't have it, you can easily install it. Once you're in your Drive, you can create a folder and upload anything you want from your phone to it. Then, in just a few minutes, you can access Drive from your computer, go to the folder where you uploaded your Xiaomi files, and download them.
However, keep in mind that the storage Drive gives you is limited , and if you have much more on your mobile you may have to upload it little by little so that you can download it in stages without exceeding the limit.
As you can see, connecting a Xiaomi to a PC is not difficult at all. You have different options and all of them will work fine. That way you can make a copy of all the photos, videos, documents, files, music, etc. that you have on that mobile or tablet. Have you ever had trouble connecting them? How did you solve it?
