Of course there are many others and they are a fraud for those who become followers of these events.
This time I'll tell you about a recently created public event: “ FACEB00K will delete 1 million accounts, find out if you're on the list .” As you can see, the title alone suggests this is a scam, since the word Facebook—specifically, the letters that should be O's—are written with zeros, and of course there are other spelling errors like missing accents. Anyway, this shouldn't surprise us, as the spelling in these fake events is terrible; you can check it for yourselves, and that's not even the most important thing.
As is customary in these events, the user is required to confirm their attendance and invite all their friends and finally visit the page where the list is supposed to be, in this case of those who will be eliminated by Facebook. The steps conclude with a 'Like' click on the new page. There's even a note that says if you didn't complete the steps, you won't be able to see the list (how naive).
The funny thing about this event is that it is scheduled for the “November 25, 2012"Where did you get the date? ; one more invention of course. Another question that arises is knowing why would Facebook remove a million of its users, Of course will not delete any user; no one would like to lose such a gigantic number of 'customers' if we make an analogy with a company. Even more so than currently social networks are on the rise and Google+ it is stiff competition for Facebook. It is to kill yourself laughing really, not to say another word. It is the most absurd farce that we have seen.
In fact, if out of simple curiosity we visit the page where the supposed list is, we will see that on your wall there are cries and messages of pity so that they do not delete your account. Thousands of users who have already confirmed their attendance and thousands of others who also already 'like' this page. What do you friends think about it?
Now, what is the purpose of these false events? What do their creators earn?… The answer is simple: they earn a lot of money at the cost of the naivety of Facebook users, because then they sell this fan page. It is a harsh reality, but it must be said that way, without mincing words. The more fans the page has, the more value it will have and of course the number of cheated users is constantly increasing. So you can imagine how much money the creators will get and without even the minimum effort.
What can we do about it?
- First of all use common sense and not believe in every Facebook event, it may not affect us in a great way, but we will remain before our friends as 'deluded fools'.
- You have to report the event, report the page as false; We will find this option at the end of the left panel of the page and of the event itself.
It is important that they know how to recognize and ignore these scams. Don't be fooled!
