We all know that a favicon is that little icon we see in our browser's address bar, used to identify each website—it's a personal brand for each page. However, creating a favicon , a nice favicon, isn't so simple. You need design skills to first create the image and then use third-party programs to convert it into an icon. This latter process often results in a blurry image that isn't what you expected… unless you use online tools like Generate Favicon.
Generate Favicon lets you easily create a favicon from the following image formats: PNG (including transparent), GIF, JPG, and BMP . The maximum file size is 400 KB , and you can choose from three different sizes: 16x16 (standard), 32x32 , and 48x48 . The screenshot above shows an example of how I created the favicon for this humble blog.
The process is simple and fast, just load our image and in a matter of a couple of seconds our favicon will be generated, for later download in the size we need. In addition, we will be shown a preview of how our favicon would look in Firefox and IE.
Just to let you know, Generate Favicon doesn't require registration; you can start using this great tool right away. Optionally, you'll find instructions (in English) for creating a favicon , animated favicons, meta tags, and galleries of popular favicons to download.
