How to activate and deactivate Instagram notifications from the app

Therefore, we're going to give you the steps you need to take to activate or deactivate them. First, open the Instagram app on your phone. Once open, go directly to your profile (you know, the circle in the bottom right corner where your profile picture is). Once there, tap the three horizontal lines in the top right corner. This will give you a fairly comprehensive menu; the first option is "Settings and Privacy."
When you enter that submenu, you'll see a section for Notifications. So, the next step is to tap there to access the part we're interested in. This menu will allow you to pause all notifications at once (it's like turning them off because you won't receive any on your phone until you turn that button off again). But it also allows you to customize notifications one by one. In other words:
- Posts, stories and comments. Where you can put if you want to activate or not (and if only from friends or from everyone) the notifications of likes, comments, photos, stories...
- Accounts you follow and followers. Here it allows you to turn Instagram notifications on or off regarding new followers, accepted follow requests, account suggestions, slideshow mentions, and other options.
- Messages and calls. In this case it is divided by message requests, to join a group, messages from people and group chats, invitations to the broadcast channel, messages from the broadcast channel, video chats and rooms. In all of them you will be able to activate or deactivate and also allow notifications from everyone or only from accounts that you follow.
- Live videos and reels. Here the notifications refer to original audio, remixes, live videos, recently uploaded reels, most viewed reels, now you, reels created for you.
- Fundraising. Where you can activate or deactivate your notifications of fundraisers or other people's fundraisers.
- From Instagram. Regarding reminders, announcements and product reviews, announcements, help requests and featured places.
- Birthday. Where you can activate and deactivate Instagram notifications to notify you of birthdays. However, you will not always be able to do this because there will be people who have shared that date, but others have not.
- Other notifications (via email or purchases). Finally, you have the notifications that can be sent to you by email regarding comments, reminders, products, news, help, promotions; and shopping ones, in accounts you follow or in suggestions for you.
How to turn notifications on or off from people you follow
Sometimes there will be accounts of friends or characters that you want to have more "monitored" in the sense that you would like to be notified every time they publish a post, reel, story, video... Well, this can be done.
To do this, you'll need to go to the profile of the person you want to follow (or are already following). You'll see a "Following" button on their profile. But at the top, where the profile name appears, you'll find a bell icon. Tapping on it will open a notifications menu at the bottom, allowing you to choose whether you want Instagram to notify you when they post, share a story, upload a reel, or even go live.
How to activate and deactivate Instagram notifications using your mobile
Another option for enabling and disabling Instagram notifications is through your phone's settings. The steps we'll give you are general, but since each phone brand has a slightly different menu, it might not be exactly the same for you, but it should be somewhere in the settings.
Thus, the steps you should take are the following:
- Open your mobile settings.
- Go to Applications, application management or notifications. In the particular case of who writes, I have it in Applications, since I get a list to find the one I want (Instagram).
- Once you have that list of applications, you have to look for the Instagram one and click on it. Now you will have an Instagram configuration where you can manage notifications, permissions, see battery, data or storage usage...
- What interests us They are notifications so click on manage notifications. There you can block all notifications (at the top of that page), and also choose private notifications (Instagram direct, requests or video chat), from Instagram (alerts, likes in comments, first posts and stories, friends on Instagram, comments, reminders, likes, likes and comments on photos in which you appear, live videos, mentions in the presentation, new followers, others, photos in which you appear, publishing, follow requests accepted, product news, drops purchases, help requests, number of plays and uploads). We can also customize IGTV (recommended IGTV videos and IGTV video updates), as well as other notifications such as ads, lock screen, sounds... and additional settings.
