How to listen to music with the Windows CMD console

How about the beginning of the week! To get off to a good start and learn something new, today I want to share with you a curious method that I sometimes use to listen to music with the CMD, also known as a command prompt or command console in Windows. The idea is to do it the old way, remembering the old days when it was used MS-DOS, without a graphical interface and only use the keyboard to explore the equipment.

What can this be useful for? Well, if you are a geek or passionate about computing you will surely like it, also if you want to spend less resources this trick is perfect, or it will simply help you to show off your Computer skills with your friends and/or family 

Sounds interesting right? Less words and more action ...

Play music with the CMD

Step 1:. The first thing will be to download mpxplay, a free audio player for DOS console, it will be a compressed file of 521 KB, you unzip it in a new folder and give it a short name that is easy for you to remember, this It must be in the unit where you have your music.
Step 2:. Run cmd through the start menu or with the Win + R key combination

Step 3:. In my case I put the folder on drive D, so in the console I just type D: to change the navigation to that drive.

Step 4:. In this example I named the folder MPXPLAY, so I type the following command:

MPXPLAY CD

CD indicates the directory change to the MPXPLAY folder.

Step 5:. We finally write mpxplay.exe which is the name of the player, it will open and we will have to explore with the arrow keys to the folder where we have our music and thus play it with Enter. That is all!

It is very easy, with certainty you will do it faster than having read this post. But to complement the information and see the procedure in detail, I recorded a short video and you can see it below.
