[TIP] Mute tabs in Chrome

Google Chrome could be classified as the 'Swiss army knife' of browsers due to its multiple functionalities and how practical it is to use it, despite the fact that it occupies second place on the podium -under firefox- It is without a doubt the favorite and default of many users who would not change it for any other (myself included).

If you are one of those users, you may have noticed that every time you play a video or song in the browser, an icon appears in its respective tab that tells you where the sound is coming from. That function is successful and quite useful, but not perfect, something is missing and that something is to allow the user mute tabs to have better control.

In this post we are going to see how to implement the 'mute' option, without having to install extensions and in a very easy way in a few seconds. Do you dare to do it? Let's go to trouble!

Mute tabs in Google Chrome

Step 1:. Open a new tab and in it paste and open the following address:

chrome: // flags /

You will access the experimental functions, these are functions that are tested to be tested by curious people like us before being officially released in future updates. Do not worry about the warning, because we know well what we do 😉

Step 2:. Press the key combination Ctrl + F to open the internal search engine and type the following:

enable-tab-audio-muting

So you will find the following experimental function:

Step 3:. Click on 'Enable' and then at the end you will find the button where you should restart browser for the changes to take effect and take effect on the next use of Chrome.

That is all! Now to put it to the test play a video on Youtube for example, immediately afterwards the sound icon will appear and simply to mute that tab, click on that icon.

Does it work true? Perfect, although it is something simple, it is very useful for everyone, so we just have to wait for this function to be implemented in the next updates of Google Chrome. But for now, we have already anticipated =)
