[Tip] How to open pages offline in Google Chrome

Hi all! A little while ago, snooping through the experimental functions of the good Chrome, I found a feature that can be useful for those who at a certain moment do not have an Internet connection and need to access recently visited pages. Mention that this possibility is present in other browsers such as Firefox and incredibly Internet Explorer, but not in Google Chrome, well yes, but hidden. 😛

Investigating a bit, they mention that since 2013 browsing through cached content has been implemented in Chrome, but that it must be manually enabled to appear in offline mode, so if you are interested in this useful feature (recommended), pay attention to the following steps.

Enable the Show Saved Copy button in Chrome

Step 1: In a new tab open the address chrome: // flags /

Step 2: Look for the experimental function that says: «Enable the Show Saved Copy button«, As seen in the following screenshot:

Enable the Show Saved Copy button

Or you can go directly here chrome: // flags / # show-saved-copy

Step 3: Here we will find two options, "Enable: main" y "Enable: secondary". The difference between the two is only the position that the button will have. In the following images I show you each one.

Enable: main

Enable: main
Enable: secondary

Enable: secondary

I personally prefer the option Enable main, since the button 'Show saved copy' appears first and in blue color that highlights it.

Step 4: Chosen your preferred version, it will ask you to restart the browser and that's it. 😉

The next time you visit a publication or a site, it will be cached and with the new button when you do not have an Internet connection, you will be able to access its content again by loading it again.

To take into account:

With this 'Reload' function, it will only show everything that is images, text, HTML, CSS and JavaScript of the cached site, but not videos, advertisements and other components that necessarily require the Internet to be displayed. However, I don't think that is relevant or overshadows the importance of this feature.

Ah! I forgot to mention that you can also enable this on Android.

Do you find offline browsing useful in Chrome? Tell us in the comments 😀
